Intensive Russian Attacks Cut Power In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered disruption to drinking water, as stated by local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has increased assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles targeted energy facilities, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were laboring to restore power.

A series of attacks struck power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region endured heavy assaults overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and multiple civilians were hurt.

The attacks succeed nights of aerial attacks in the region, parts of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with strikes already affecting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and officials were bracing for further attacks.
